Celebrating 2012!

Pastors Mike and Ali

Kia ora and welcome to 2012!

For some, 2011 was a very difficult year; the recession, the earthquakes, the Pike River coal mine disaster still fresh in our minds as the victims families still search for answers, personal tragedies and struggles. But for others 2011 and was a great year! We should remain sensitive to those who have had a tough year, there is no reason why we should not rejoice and be glad and reflect on the blessings that we have received!

The great thing is God is that no matter what kind of year we have had, we can expect 2012 to be brighter. Proverbs 4:18 in the Good News Translation says, "The road the righteous travel is like the sunrise, getting brighter and brighter until daylight has come."

No matter what, you and I face a bright future! Ok, there are many pundits out there saying, "Things are going to get worse." I would have to say, they are probably right - for those who are trusting in money for happiness and security.

Let's look at the same passage in the Amplified version of the Bible "But the path of the [uncompromisingly] just and righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines more and more (brighter and clearer) until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day [to be prepared]."

As we head into 2012, the best thing we can do is walk righteously, looking forward to a bright future in God!
